What We Do

Keep Your Chimney Safe and Up to Code

The National Fire Protection Association recommends annual chimney inspections for every home with a fireplace, stove, or wood-burning appliance. A buildup of creosote, cracks in the flue liner, or a deteriorating chimney crown can create serious fire and carbon monoxide risks that are invisible from the ground.

At Home Safe Hearth & Chimney, every chimney sweep includes a thorough inspection by a CSIA-certified technician. We document everything with photos so you can see exactly what we see — and we explain what needs attention and what doesn't.

Common Questions

Chimney Sweep & Inspection FAQ

How often should I have my chimney inspected?
The NFPA recommends annual chimney inspections for all fireplaces and wood-burning appliances. Even if you don't use your fireplace often, animals, moisture, and settling can cause hidden damage that should be caught early.
How long does a chimney sweep and inspection take?
A standard chimney sweep and Level 1 inspection typically takes about 45 minutes to an hour. If our technician identifies issues that require a more detailed Level 2 inspection, we'll discuss that with you before proceeding.
What is creosote and why is it dangerous?
Creosote is a tar-like substance that builds up inside your chimney flue when wood burns. It's highly flammable — if it accumulates to a thickness of just 1/8 inch, it can ignite and cause a chimney fire. Regular sweeping removes creosote before it reaches dangerous levels.
Do you service gas fireplaces too?
Yes. While gas fireplaces don't produce creosote, they still need annual inspection to check for proper venting, gas valve function, and carbon monoxide safety. We service all fireplace types — gas, wood, electric, and pellet.

What Our Customers Say

After having three other Wichita chimney companies tell me they couldn't drive just 15 minutes north and even no-call/no-show on me, Michael was the professional I was looking for. He arrived exactly on time and even fit me into a packed schedule to get my chimneys cleaned and inspected before the holidays. Excellent communication, excellent work.
