- Electric: Electric stoves are more cost-effective for the homeowner. They turn on and off easily and require much less maintenance than the more traditional types. They simply plug into the wall and can be moved around easily. Yet, like the gas options, they do not allow for the traditional atmosphere offered by higher maintenance fireplaces.
